Co-Founder, Host, Comedian & Poet
Host / Managing Director / Comedian / Writer
To describe what she does in a few words is an impossible fete. One half of the founding partnership of AV, poet, comedian, host, writer (we’re still trying to figure out if she’s a baker and a candlestick maker)…. Quills uses words and wit to knock her audiences out and keep them coming for more. She has hosted many shows around town including Comedy Night at Kill Your Idol, South Beach Comedy Festival, and more.
She is Jack's ever growing sense of wit mixed with an illegal dose of an 8 year old boy's surge of adrenaline.
Her comedy is based on real life observations with a touch of story-telling and wit. Her quick tongue and wordsmith fire will stun you, maybe even surprise you. Her poetry ranges from heartbreaking, to edgy, to sassy, to just plain nuts. Ever seen an 8 year old comedian with the mouth of a 30 year old sailor? Say hello to the Q.
Co-Founder, Actress & Singer
Artistic Director / Actor / Singer / Director
Vanessa Thompson began her artistic career at six years old when she produced her first variety show on her grandmother’s back patio with a cast of her cousins. Needless to say, she knew what she wanted from the start. During her high school theatre years she competed on the district and state level, winning many awards and solidifying her commitment to the arts early on. While in college she landed a professional internship at New Theatre, a local treasure and highly respected theatre company in Coral Gables, Florida. New Theatre is where she gained experience in house management, stage management, and received her professional acting debut in the world premiere of Likeness by David Caudle, under the direction of Ricky J. Martinez. Remaining a company member of New Theatre’s for several years and working with many other South Florida theaters, she later went on to co-found her own company, Artistic Vibes, which remains a staple in the Miami performance community today. Along the way she has produced, directed, and performed in a multitude of shows ranging from open mics, festivals, and live music showcases to full length plays and children’s theatre. Her love for the arts clearly knows no limits because in 2017 she decided to dive further into Miami’s music community and found local alternative rock band, East Drive, where she is the lead vocalist and songwriter. Currently this renaissance girl is running Artistic Vibes, recording her first album, and performing at theaters and music venues all over the Miami area.
